only offer a Full 40-hour Guard Card Package. The package includes the 8-hour classroom based
Power to Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force course with both Part A and Part B together in the classroom. It also includes an online course package with
the 32-Hours of BSIS required CE training courses. Together these complete the full 40-Hour CA State BSIS first year security guard training requirement.
The 8-Hour classroom based
Power to Arrest and AUOF course is provided in San Diego by Six Maritime, Inc. under their training license, TFF-1581, and the 32-Hours of
online CE courses are provided by TwoProtect Training Instite under license TFF-1266.
To apply for a guard card, students
will still need to pay the CA state guard card registration fee of $60, and the Live Scan Fingerprint Fees of about $85.

The certificate for the 8-hour Power to Arrest and AUOF
course is used to apply for a CA state guard card. The certificates for the
32 hours CE part of this course package are never turned into the BSIS. Once you complete the 32-hours of online courses, the BSIS requires
you to turn them into your employer to keep on file. The BSIS requires
all security employers in CA to keep the certificates for all continuing education (CE) courses on file for all employees, at all times.
Meets CA State BSIS Continuing Education (CE) Requirement: This package contains the 32-hours of security guard training
that is mandated by the CA State BSIS for all first year security guards. This package also includes the 8-hours of security guard annual training that is mandated by the CA State BSIS for all security guards and PSOs after their first year.

Power to Arrest - PART A & Appropriate Use of Force - PART B
This two part 8-hour course is required to be completed before applying for a guard card.
Part A and Part B
The two part training course is approximately
eight hours in length. Part A, the Power to Arrest (PTA) covers the first 3 hours. Part B, the Appropriate Use of Force (AUOF) is 5-hours. Both parts of the PTA course are taken in-person at the training location
in .
After purchasing the 40-hour package, students then sign up and take the 8-hour in-person 2-Part Power to Arrest and AUOF training at the location on any availble date.
Part A
(3-hours), the BSIS PTA section, covers the following topics:
- Responsibilities and ethics in citizen arrest.

- Relationship between a security guard and a peace officer in making an arrest.
- Limitations on security guard power to arrest.
- Restrictions on searches and seizures.
- Criminal and civil liabilities, including both of the following:
a) Personal liability.
b) Employer liability.
- Trespass law.
- Ethics and communications.
- Emergency situation response, including response to medical emergencies.
- Security officer safety.
Part B
(5-hours), the BSIS AUOF section, covers the following topics:
- Legal standards for use of force.
- Duty to intercede.
- The use of objectively reasonable force.
- Supervisory responsibilities.
- Use of force review and analysis.
- De-escalation and interpersonal communication training, including tactical
methods that use time, distance, cover, and concealment, to avoid
escalating situations that lead to violence.
- Implicit and explicit bias and cultural competency.
- Skills, including de-escalation techniques, to effectively, safely, and
respectfully interact with people with disabilities or behavioral health
issues.
- Use of force scenario training, including simulations of low-frequency,
high-risk situations and calls for service, shoot-or-don't-shoot situations,
and real-time force option decision making.
- Mental health and policing, including bias and stigma.
- Active shooter situations.
The two parts above, Part A and Part B, are followed by a final exam at the
end of the 8-hour in-person class.
California Code
of Regulations 643: Skills Training Course for Security Guards and PSOs lists the required license training,
including some required in-person training, before applying for a guard card or PSO license.
The online courses are available 24x7, allowing students to work at your their pace, logging in and out as often as needed.
This online training system works on all types of computers, tablets, and smart phones.
